Self-Advocacy and Accessing Resources

What is your best tip for getting the help you need? I heard a great tip from Mr. Leibbrand yesterday: Ask a teacher when would be a good time to talk to them about _______________ ? (Don't assume that right now is the best time for them, even though it might be a good time for you. This way you will find a time that works for both of you and the teacher will be in a better position to hear you and work with you!)

Remember... teachers are people too! Consider that maybe if they are having a bad day, it has nothing to do with you :)

  1. Another hint for being a great self-advocate: Be sure to talk about your reasons for why you need what you are asking for... People are more likely to be able to help if they understand fully the issue you've got.
